Visiting Architects and City Planners

This architect, with the great hat, built one of the most recognizable structures in our crazy town district. Recognizing her building in the National Post she came down to the CNE to lend us more of her creative vision.

The Head Architect in the Soft St. Jamestown project. He cut the red ribbon in the grand unveiling. He was too modest to give more information about himself.

There is always going to be those boundry-pushing architects who want to make something ‘hard’ in a Soft City! Kudos for being different.

This brother team believed a building should have as many windows as possible in of course every possible colour. How can we thank them for their amazing designs!

Mary helped some littler architects reach their potential, as well as contributing a wonderful stage concept for our Soft Fair. We’ve heard she is from a strange land called Halifax and that she also interested in landscape, urban development, gentrification, architecture, and utopian imaginings, among other things. Clever.

Sonia is also a great helper to our tiny architect types. She lead many fascinating discussions about the Soft City should and could become! She should know she is a graduate of architecture and fine arts. She tells us she is interested in people’s response to space and how designers, architects, city planners, etc. can influence people’s experience of a space. Sounds smart.

Bianca said she came from a place called Ontario, never heard of it. She didn’t have time to make a building but she did make a min-plush version of herself to leave behind in the Soft City.

Karen made this awesome wacky guy on stilts for the Soft Fair. She does other cool stuff and is launching a line of soft-sculpture power animals. Woa! She made a BUNCH of other Soft City stuff to like a big sculpture… and lots of stuff.

Jon and Jen are this amazing duo of craftyness! Jen likes to make art with kids and sometimes grown-ups, play roller derby and bake, decorate and eat cupcakes. Yum. Jon is a monster-maker and graphic designer. We were a little scared of these monsters he brought along but he assured us they were friendly!

This charmer, Sascha, is one of our most innovative ‘idea’ guys. Always coming up with amazing ways to get our Soft City on the map!

Gabriel, the twin of Sascha, competes against his brother a bit to be the best plush architect/thinker we have. Truth is both are talented in different ways its like apples and oranges.

We heard this guy, Darren, is some big deal writer in the concrete city. We like culture in the Soft City so we we’re open to his zany art ideas. He also was instrumental in bringing in our felt potholes and sponge newspaper boxes.
